Clinical Assistant Professor in TESOL/Bilingual/Foreign Language Education

 

The Program in Multilingual/Multicultural Studies within the Department of Teaching and Learning is seeking to fill a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor position in TESOL/Bilingual Education/Foreign Language Education beginning Fall 2013. The Department is dedicated to urban schools and global, multicultural education, essential components of Steinhardt's commitment to serve and enhance a complex urban setting in a changing world.

 

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will be someone who is able to: (1) teach a range of graduate courses in the areas of second/foreign language theory, practice, and research; (2) advise graduate and undergraduate students; (3) supervise student teachers in the field; (4) cultivate relationships with area schools; (5) assist with program administration including mentoring of adjunct faculty; (6) maintain an active involvement in the scholarly community through participation in professional organizations and conference presentations.

 

Qualifications:  Earned doctorate in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Bilingual Education, Foreign

Language Education, or related field; demonstrated commitment and expertise in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels; successful experience working collaboratively with schools in urban settings and/or internationally; fluency in Mandarin a plus, as is knowledge of language and technology.
